Also, even though I am the only access point around, the R2H will still not connect if the SSID is not broadcast. My laptop has no problems connecting with the SSID not broadcast with WZC, so I guess it's this particular R2H wireless adapter. Apparently the culprit of frequent disconnections of WPA WiFi is Windows Zero Configuration (WZC) which periodically keeps trying to get a better signal and in doing so disconnects, searches and reconnects. The solution is to disable WZC after the initial connect by issuing a net.exe stop.
